Body Contouring
Tumescent Liposuction performed by Dr. Susan
Murrmann- Liposuction is a surgical technique that
improves the body's contour by removing excess fat from
fatty deposits located between the skin and muscle. The
Tumescent technique of liposuction was developed in
1985, and involves the use of large volumes of a dilute
solution of lidocaine (a local anesthetic) in
combination with the vasoconstrictive drug, epinephrine,
that shrinks capillaries. With the Tumescent technique,
infiltrating the local anesthesia is associated with
minimal discomfort. Once the area has been completely
numbed, surgery in that area is essentially painless. In
addition, because the numbness remains in the treated
area for more than 12 hours, there is minimal
discomfort immediately after surgery.
Mesotherapy is a non-surgical injection technique
with a broad range of applications. Mesotherapy promotes
the body's circulatory, lymphatic, and immune system to
create a biological response. Mesotherapy involves the
injection of a customized mixture of vitamins, amino
acids, and medications, placed just millimeters into the
skin. At McDonald Murrmann Center for Skin and Laser,
mesotherapy is used for cosmetic purposes such as
reduction of specific areas of fat not overall weight
loss. Several treatments are required depending on
amount of reduction desired.
